The first weekend of Opération Nez rouge’s 36th edition saw 4,991 Quebecers use the drive-home service, which caters to those who believe they are too impaired to drive.
Nez rouge organizers made the results public Monday morning, adding that those drives home were made possible by 4,140 volunteers.
The service is offered in 62 areas of Quebec as well as in six other Canadian provinces. Last year, a total of 73,000 rides were logged across the country, 56,000 of them in Quebec.
Those who want to use the service can do so by calling 1-866-DESJARDINS (337-5273) or by using the free Nez rouge app.
Opération Nez Rouge continues through Dec. 31.
